David is a 20+ year veteran of the investment industry. He is an expert in implementing and executing The Smith Manoeuvre™, a debt conversion strategy that, when suitable, combines potential long-term equity growth with the current tax advantages of converting non-deductible mortgage debt into the deductible debt of an investment loan.
Trained and mentored by Fraser Smith, pioneer of The Smith Manoeuvre™, David worked in partnership with his son, Robinson Smith, until 2018 when he assumed full stewardship of their retail investment practice following Robinson’s retirement.
David’s advice is driven by each client’s unique circumstances—ranging from helping families implement Canada’s leading debt conversion strategy to delivering bespoke wealth management and estate planning solutions.
David joined Integral in June 2013. From his Sidney-based office on Vancouver Island, he serves clients in British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario.
